As
Teams fishing in the world's first carbon neutral fishing tournament,
we are committed to reducing the effects of our carbon footprint
on the atmosphere, but to us even more importantly, to our oceans
and sea life. Climate changes occurring throughout the earth's
seas lead to ocean acidification. This affects the food chain
endangering sport fish that drive a recreational fishing industry
valued at over six billion dollars annually for the state of Florida.
The
Sailfish Tournament 's commitment is to reduce the carbon footprint
for this weekend's event through the purchase of "Carbon
Offsets" that will be used to produce energy, using home
grown American green fuel sources.
The
Sailfish Tournament urges you to support a comprehensive energy
plan and climate change legislation that will wean us from using
foreign oil by creating clean renewable sources of domestic energy
and the carbon reduction that comes with that commitment.
By
choosing this path you will help insure that our fisheries and
ocean remain healthy and Florida remains the "sportfishing
capital of the world".
The Sailfish Tournament and our Sponsors are committed to changing
the way our industry impacts the world. Environmental changes
that we make, mitigating effects of climate change, demonstrate
commitments the angling community feels for the global dilemma
we face today.
